In North River, 20 minutes away, Garnet Hill cross country Ski Center is a premier world class Cross Country ski center with many miles of groomed trails, rentals, lessons, restaurants and beautiful views. On the adjacent 200,000 acres of state lands along Thirteenth Lake where you can ski or snowshoe. Old Farm Clearing trail is a favorite. Off trail that is the the Balm of Gilead and William Blake pond trails. From the Old Farm Clearing you can take trails to the Sacandaga River or Height of Land and on further into the Siamese Ponds Wilderness Area and rt8.
