Hiking in the Johnsburg and North Creek area
Johnsburg offers some of the best hiking in Southern Adirondack Park. Whether you seek the Alpine cliffs and ponds of Crane Mountain & Peaked Mountain or the tranquility of a remote forest lake, such as Peaked Mountain Pond, Second Pond, Kibby Pond or Cod Pond or a great wilderness Hike. Our Part of the North Country has it all nearby to our 2 Adirondack rentals.
Hiking in the Town of Johnsburg/ North Creek Aka - Gore Mountain region of the Adirondack Park offers visitors a chance to see unspoiled and generally untouristed spots. Many trails in the High peaks now require advance reservations and the trails are often crowded, over traveled and eroded. Trails in the Southern regions of Adirondack Park are free to use anytime and are rarely busy. Most trails in this region receive light to moderate use and it is not unusual to have an entire trail to yourselves or at least only encounter a few other visitors. This relative quiet offers visitors more chances to experience the local flora and fauna on a first-hand basis. Places like Gore Mountain, Crane Mountain, Balm of Gilead Mountain and Peaked Mountain offer breathtaking views year-round. The pristine forests offer great Birding and foraging opportunities and are especially good in our area. Johnsburg and North Creek areas offer some of the most interesting hikes in the region. Many of these trails are good for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter.
